Five feelings, pt 5
Happy Sunday from summer. The heat has officially hit Los Angeles and I’ve been loving every moment of it. I used to dread these weeks in July and August when the air gets dry and the sun beats down on the pavement and buildings. Now though, I crave the heat, the sweat, the weather that wakes me up. Summer is a reminder of how alive I am, physically, as a body. The sun and sand and scorching winds are inescapable; I see traces of them on my skin, in my memories. For the next two months, I’ll be swimming as much as I can, reading with the lights low and AC humming, and eating only salty foods that feel good to eat. Words that come to mind: soak, linger, soften, melt. I want to embody this, to feel the season and weather on every inch of my skin, throughout all my nerve endings. How about you?
