#12: For when you feel like crying at the holiday party
A mini meditation for enneagram 4s and sensitive people
You are invited. To the party, to the gathering, to the dinner with close family and friends. You are wanted here—yes, you in your fullness, with all your big feelings and emotions about the world.
You do not need to stay outside, nose pressed against a metaphorical window as you watch everyone else have a good time. Not this year. You can join them. You don’t have to wear a costume or put on a face because you feel strange or like people don’t see you for the real you. The real you is what people want; it’s what they deserve.
Let yourself be loved and cared for this season. Let others carry weight if you need them to. If you are processing heavy emotions—because holidays bring up a myriad of hard feelings—let your loved ones in, let them be there to listen or just to sit with you in the silence.
Remind them that you want to feel all of the feelings, that you are not hiding from your emotions but rather running to them because they are like little lighthouses on the shore to help guid…
