Happy Sunday.
I’ve greatly missed this small and sacred space for the past few weeks, and I’m excited to be writing to you all once again. In this first post of 2022, I’d love to explore the idea of words and the power they hold over our lives.
I’ve noticed the theme for this year seems to go a little bit like this: We are no longer pretending to have it all together; we are comfortable being aimless people, accustomed to wandering without really knowing where to go next—comfortable meaning it has become our routine over the past two years, not as in we feel good about our current state of listlessness.
For some of us, we cope with this listlessness by falling silent. We lose our words, filling the void in our chest by turning inward and closing ourselves off. Call us tired; call us speechless. We have nothing left to offer, nothing left to say.
Then there are those of us who are always talking. We talk to comfort ourselves, to make better sense of the chaos. We use words freely, not b…
