“We can embrace the pull to go in new directions as an invitation to expand ourselves. Or, we can remain stuck in our self-created boxes, trudging through even when it’s no longer working, even when our path has become a dead end.” how beautifully profound. thank u for imparting your words.
Thank you for this. I happen to be experiencing many life transitions at the moment, and I often feel such resistance and fear around it all. But, this serves as a comforting reminder that the only constant we have in this life is, in fact, change – and that we can find beauty and optimism through it all.
I can relate to SO much of this. My partner and I decided to move to a small seaside town in 2021, leaving our lovely Victorian city flat behind. We thought we wanted a garden, and more space, and more nature, and a quieter lifestyle. Turns out we were wrong, and 18 months later we're moving back to the city again. I was SO scared of telling people – mainly my family – for fear of criticism. But I realised that that wasn't a good enough reason not to move on with our lives, and do what was right for us. Fortunately everyone was incredibly supportive and understood why we needed to do what we did. And it's given me this sense of empowerment that you describe beautifully – that we CAN still change as we get older. We might just need to remind ourselves of that more often!
Loved this! There is such freedom in making decisions when you know if it wasn’t the right one you can change your mind. Understanding this has allowed me to move forward when before I was stuck in indecisiveness.
I know this wasn't the point, but I want to fly fish with you LOL.
It's amazing what happens when we put ourselves out there, try different things, push ourselves while simultaneously listening to ourselves. Love your writing as always, friend. <3

This is lovely. And I hope you start that bookstore. The world needs more of them.

I do agree. Good thing to understand earlier in life. I’m 65 and I still change my mind and it’s such an amazing gift. ❤️ lovely reminder !
